The Bishop of BedfordRichard Inwood, formerly Archdeacon of Halifax, was consecrated by the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Revd Dr Rowan Williams at Southwark Cathedral on March 7th 2003. Richard Inwood has oversight of 150 parishes in Luton and Bedfordshire, under the direction of the Bishop of St Albans. Richard Inwood read Chemistry at University College, Oxford, and later, Theology at Nottingham University. Before ordination, Richard spent a year teaching in north-west Uganda and worked as a research and development chemist with ICI in Manchester for nearly two years. The Rt Revd Richard Inwood,

The Bishop of HertfordChristopher Foster was consecrated suffragan Bishop of Hertford on St. Luke's Day, October 18th 2001. Bishop Christopher grew up in the industrial West Midlands and in Surrey before studying economics and briefly working as an economics lecturer. Since ordination in 1980 he has served in a variety of settings. Amongst his present responsibilities he has a particular interest in the mission and ministry of the church in the 21st century through the work of lay and ordained Christians. He is Warden of Readers in the diocese, chairs the Pastoral Committee, and leads the ecumenical grouping of Churches Together in Hertfordshire. Beyond the church he continues his enthusiasm for education in work with schools and is a governor of the University of Hertfordshire. He is a patron and supporter of many local charities. After teaching economics in the universities of Durham and Cambridge Bishop Christopher was curate in the Tettenhall Regis team ministry, Wolverhampton, before serving as Chaplain of Wadham College and assistant priest of the University Church, Oxford. In 1986 he became vicar of Christ Church, Southgate, north London (serving also as director of clergy continuing ministerial education), before moving in 1994 to be sub dean and residentiary canon of St. Albans.
